Corps Members Are Great Army for Grassroot Sensitisation, Mobilisation – Ekiti Gov. asserts

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has commended the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, saying that Corps Members are great army for grassroot sensitization and mobilization.

The Governor gave the commendation while delivering his speech today at the orientation passing out parade of the NYSC Ekiti, 2023 Batch A, Stream2 Corps Members at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ise/Orun Emure.

According to the Governor, who was represented by the Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Adesola Gold Adedayo, NYSC has effectively deployed corps members to the grassroots to enhance grassroot sensitisation, mobilisation, electioneering, awareness creation and execution of various governmental programmes.

He said, “NYSC was singled out to utilise its great army of youths for grassroot sensitisation, mobilisation, electioneering, awareness creation and execution of various government’s programmes such as HIV/Aids prevention and care, Drug law enforcement and the fight against corruption.”

Charging the new Corps Members on the deposition of their duties, Oyebanji urged them to influence their respective host communities positively, adding that they have great potential to influence their communities within a short period.

He said, “Youths are visionary leader; they have the great potentials to influence their immediate Community within a short period, which will, in turn place the nation back on the track of greatness. Hence, the rationale behind the formation of the National Youth Service Scheme.”

He therefore urged the Corp Members to support the Government in executing its programmes towards improving rural communities.

Also, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment towards upholding the welfare of the Corps Members, noting that the State Government has placed modalities to ensure that Corps Members are safe and secured. Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Adadayo Gold Adeshola.
