Chief Dauda Awise Bags Prestigious Award as 2023 most outstanding Trado-medical Practitioner

A Yoruba Heritage Leadership International Platform has awarded an Ekiti-born trado-medical expert, Chief Dauda Lawal Awise as the most outstanding Yoruba trado-medical Practitioner man of the year 2023.

Chief Awise, in a programme held in Ile-Ife, Osun state to celebrate 2023 Akoni Oodua Diary, was honoured for his contribution to the trado-medical profession in Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.

While receiving the award at the programme themed: “Yoruba women as determinant of national prosperity”, Chief Dauda Awise promised to be more focused and discharge his duties effectively, while also charging the Federal Government to give more recognition to Traditionalists in the country as they are the pillars who uphold the ancient medical culture as against the modern medical traditions.

According to him, “I promise to be more focused and discharge my duties effectively.

“I will like to task the federal government to give more recognition to we the Traditionalists in the country as we are the pillars who uphold the ancient medical culture as against the modern medical traditions we have now.”

In his lecture, the Senior lecturer, Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Dr. Adeola Faleye, charged Nigerian women to re-strategize and be active in politics and socio cultural activities in order to promote inclusive, participatory, accountable and representative in Nation’s development.

Dr Adeola highlighted the roles and importance of women as a backbone and source of national development as well as prosperity, noting that they need to encourage and empower younger generation.

“Statistic shows the total population of Nigeria from 2011 to 2021 by gender that Nigeria’s female population amounted to approximately 105.57 million, while the male population amounted to approximately 107.83 million inhabitants.” He added
