Breaking: Court Grants Emefiele N20M Bail

By Akubulu Ngozi, Christopher Deborah

Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted the Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele bail of N20 million, today.

The bail was issued after Emefiele pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of illegal possession of firearms filed against him by the Federal Ministry of Justice.

Recall that Emefiele has been in the Custody of Department of State Services, DSS, for over a month on account of corrupt charges filed against him.

Following this, Emefiele’s Lawyer, Mr. Joseph Daudu, SAN, applied for his bail after Emefiele pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge against him, arguing that the offence for which Emefiele was charged is bailable.
