Bolanle Raheem: ASP Vandi Pleads Not Guilty

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi attached to the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah, Lagos State has pleaded not guilty before the Lagos High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square to the murder of Mrs. Bolanle Raheem, a female legal practitioner. 

Recall that on December 25th, 2022,  Omobolanle Raheem was shot by the ASP while returning from church service with her family and was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital.

According to the first prosecution witness, Inspector Matthew Ameh, a member of the patrol team led by ASP Vandi, the Police were conducting a stop and search on Christmas Day when the lawyer was shot, adding that the car had no plate number, hence the reason it was flagged down. 

Before the testimony, Vandi was arraigned on a one count charge of murder.

The charge reads, “that you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road long the Lekki Expressway, Lagos unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

However when the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty. The court has adjourned the case till the 25th & 26th of January, 2023.
