The President of Ekiti State Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monisola Abodunde, has reaffirmed the judiciary commitment to expanding access to justice for all, regardless of economic and social status.
At the official commissioning of the Ayegbaju Ekiti customary court in Oye Local Government Area, Justice Abodunde emphasized the judiciary’s dedication to upholding the rule of law, protecting citizens’ rights and maintaining public confidence in the legal system.
“This court’s inauguration reminds us that justice must be accessible to all, irrespective of social or economic status…We must work to make this court a place where solutions are found, disputes resolved fairly and the law applied wisely, in accordance with our customs.” Justice Abodunde said.
The establishment of this court demonstrates the judiciary’s commitment to delivering justice that is not only done but seen to be done, upholding the rule of law, protecting citizens’ rights and maintaining public confidence.
Justice Abodunde urged the court’s president and personnel to exhibit high professional standards, integrity, impartiality and dedication. “Carry out your duties responsibly, respecting our people’s traditions. Let this court resolve disputes peacefully, settle conflicts justly and uphold all parties’ dignity.”
Governor Biodun Oyebanji was thanked for his efforts in supporting the judicial arm of government. Chairman of Oye Local Government, Hon. Princess Clara Bamisile, represented by Hon. Ayodeji Omowaye, welcomed the court, saying it will promote good conduct within the community and sued for peace in Ayegbaju Ekiti.
HRM Ibitayo Abolanle, the Regent of Ayegbaju Ekiti, expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji and Justice Abodunde for the facility, hailing it as the beginning of greater things.
Also, Chief Peter Ajayi, the Obajagun of Ayegbaju Ekiti, assured that the community will utilize the court wisely and welcome its personnel.
