The Peoples Democratic Party House of Representative, Candidate for Ekiti South Federal Constituency, Henrich Akomolafe has called on Nigerians to take their destiny into their hands and collectively help fix the challenges plaguing the country.
Akomolafe in his goodwill message on Nigeria’s 62nd independence anniversary urged the people to cast their minds to the period when Nigeria was truly the giant of Africa, where leaders where passionate about leaving lasting legacies and when people were fully enlightened and politically conscious and make personal sacrifices to revive Nigeria.
“We must cast our minds to when we had peace and unity, when education was free and accessible to all, when security was a communal responsibility and a time when regions engaged in healthy competitions that spurred developmental ideas.
“Unfortunately, my generation has struggled to witness such positive moment, hence the basis for most people’s attempt to flee the country. My advice is for Nigerians to take action by making personal sacrifices, getting involved in the business of governance and let us restore the good old days that Nigeria had, at least,” Akomolafe told newsmen.
He also appealed to Nigerians to pay attention to the issues and ensure a peaceful campaign season.
The PDP Candidate subsequently congratulated Nigerians and the people of Ekiti on witnessing the 62nd independence anniversary and 26th anniversary respectively.
Akomolafe, who also celebrated his birthday on October 1, pledged to dedicate the next 30 years of his life to service of humanity through public service.
“Growing up, I promised myself that I will use the first 30 years of my life to focus on my business and ensure success, and the second 30years of my life to focus on humanity, human empowerment, human capital and most especially making the world a better place for us all,” He said.
He said this fuelled his decision to contest for the House of Representative seat with a promise to “promote education and sports centered bills, motions and interventions that can improve our local talents and transform them into global competitors as well as lobby for more Federal intervention for infrastructural development in this Constituency.”
