… appeals for payment of other entitlements
he Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS says, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has proved to be a man of his words in less than six months in office.
In a letter of appreciation to the Governor signed by its Chairman, Comrade Sola Adigun and Secretary, Comrade Adeola Augustine and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, ASUSS noted that within the short time in office the Governor had fulfilled huge part of his promises to workers, while critical infrastructure in the state is also receiving attention.
“Of great note are the prompt payment of salaries and deductions, payment of salaries arrears, pension, and gratuity, the reconstruction of the damaged portion of roads in Ado, Ikere, and other towns in Ekiti, and many other developmental projects within the shortest period of your tenure in office.”
ASUSS pointed out that Governor Oyebanji had demonstrated that he was one of the Ekiti people who recognized their dreams, aspirations and desire for good governance, hence his outstanding performance which touched directly on the needs of the people.
The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools however appealed to Mr Governor to take a passionate look at other demands of workers which it’s argued were crucial to effective service delivery of the various category of the workforce.
“Financial implementation of already done promotions, and implementation of minimum wage for the officers on grade level 14 and above.”
ASUSS also notes that it is not unaware of the economic situation of the state, but appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji not to forget the promise made to the secondary school teachers by stretching helping hands to their union on the construction of the Secretariat building project and a utility bus as done to other Unions in the State as soon as the state finances improve.
The Union therefore congratulated the Ekiti State Governor for the victory of the APC in the just concluded presidential election and the overwhelming victory in the National Assembly seats for Ekiti State.
