ARIBASOYE ASSURES EKITI TEACHERS OF SUSTAINED FAVOURABLE LEGISLATION

…accepts ASUSS award of excellence

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye has assured that the legislature will continue to accord bills or issues that affect teachers priority attention.

Aribasoye stated this on Thursday after receiving an Award of Excellence handed to him by the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Ekiti State Chapter.

The union hinged the award on the exemplary legislative leadership, sustained spirit of activism and the unquantifiable support to teachers, among other qualities spotlighted in Mr. Aribasoye.

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye who thanked ASUSS for the recognition, recalled how he had always supported and identified with the aspirations of ASUSS and teachers in general in the days of struggle.

The Speaker emphasized that the least the Ekiti State House of Assembly could do is to give maximum support to teachers who he described as role models and life moulders.

“We are products of the impartation of teachers. I can promise you that the Ekiti State House of Assembly under my leadership is ready to partner, support and collaborate with the governor of the state to optimize teachers’ welfare and that of citizens in general.” Aribasoye affirmed.

He stated further: “I have gotten the commitment of my colleagues in the 7th Assembly to give anything affecting teachers accelerated hearing.”

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye said Ekiti state is blessed with a governor who is positively inclined to teachers and workers adding that governor Biodun Oyebanji has been able to record many successes as a result of the collaboration of the legislature.

Aribasoye also lauded the visions of ASUSS part of which is evident in the befitting event hall built by the union adding that it was cheering that ASUSS also used the award ceremony to honour retired members, reward those in service and develop students through English and Mathematics competitions.
