APC Condemns Attack on Party Leaders

…calls for Investigation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the attack on some of its leaders and members in Port Harcourt on Monday, by alleged supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Party condemned the attack in a press statement signed by the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

It could be recalled, Roundoffnews reported that, the APC Governorship Candidate, Mr. Tonye Cole, and other party leaders in the state were attacked by alleged protesting PDP supporters on their way to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office, Port harcourt to obtain the Certified True Copies (CTC) of documents to persecute his case against the PDP in the state gubernatorial elections.

According to the APC National Publicity Secretary, the parties officials suffered life threatening injuries and
damages on personal and party properties.

Morka described the attack as a premeditated attacks and an orgy of violence, claiming that no serious investigation has been carried out by the police or repercussions for
the instigators and perpetrators of the violence.

He however, called on the Inspector General of Police to order an urgent investigation into the matter

In his words, “we call on the Inspector General of Police to order an urgent and thorough investigation into this and previous incidents of violent attacks on leaders and members of our Party in Rivers State, and to bring the sponsors and perpetrators to justice.”
