Alleged Rigging: Buhari Approves Suspension of Adamawa REC

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the suspension of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Adamawa State, Barr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari pending the investigation of alleged manipulation of the state supplementary election results.

This was revealed in a statement issued from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and signed by its Director of Information, Mr. Willie Bassey.

According to him, the President has directed the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services, and the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to commence the investigation of the roles played by their personnel in the election commotion.

More so, Buhari directed the prosecution of the REC, if found guilty, by the Inspector General of Police.

Recall, roundoff news reported that the Adamawa REC on Sunday was alleged to have announced the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, Aishatu Dahiru Binani as the winner of the state gubernatorial poll, which was supposed to be done by the Returning Officer (RO) of the state, also the declaration came before completion of collations which caused the commotion.
