Abacha Loot: Focus on Buhari’s recoveries instead of borrowing – Senator Shehu Advises Tinubu

By Udesinanna Stephen

One time Senate Representative of Kaduna Central, Senator Shehu Sani, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus on Abacha’s loot recovered by Buhari’s administration instead of borrowing.

Sani made this known on his X handle @Shehu Sani.

This is coming few days after President Tinubu wrote to the Senate seeking approval to borrow $7.8 billion and €100 million.

Sen. Sani said, “The President can save the country from plunging into deeper debt by emphasising on the recovery of looted funds from the elements of the Buhari administration instead of more borrowing.”

Commenting on the recently recovered Abacha loot, he said, “France kept $150million “Abacha’s loot” for over 25 years and returned it without accrued interest; could this be a reward for the sanctions against Niger Republic military junta?’
