Aare Babalola Volunteered to Help Nigeria Defray External Debt

…urges president Buhari to reach out to other patriotic Nigerians

A legal luminary, Aare Afe Babalola has called on Federal Government to set up a committee for immediate payment of substantial part of  external  debt owed by the country.

The legal icon who  made the call in Ado Ekiti while speaking with newsmen said  the proposed  committee will seek the assistance of  the  billionaires,  trillionaires and other Patriotic Nigerians that would donate to offset the debt.

According to him, the suggestion is necessary to guide against Nigeria becoming bankrupt.

He noted that  the country’s external debt as at June, 2022 had reached forty two point eight four trillion naira which he said was alarming.

He said that  Federal Government should also  toe the path of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, by approaching  the creditors either for total forgiveness of the debt or substantial reduction.

Aare Babalola said that  member of the committee should comprise people of impeccable characters like Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Bishop Mathew kukah, Promising that he would make his contribution to ensure that the depts were paid.

On the forthcoming elections, Aare Babalola noted that it would be difficult for Nigeria to produce good leaders with the 1999 constitution, saying it should be reviewed.

The legal icon who is the founder of Afe Babalola university, Ado Ekiti explained that any election conducted with the present constitution would be a recycling of those who led the country to where it is today.

Aare Babalola said that the country needed  constitution that would  respect age, academic qualification, character, contributions to community development as well as family background of the candidates for presidency and National Assembly.

He lamented over the myriad of problems facing the nation such insecurity, banditry, kidnapping, unemployment under founded of education, herdsmen’s attack, murder poverty and robbery, saying there should be a proactive measure to end the menaces in their interest of Nigerians.
