2024 NUJ PRESS WEEK: Online Media Chapel Bags Best Chapel Award

The Online Media Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti state, has been awarded the best chapel of NUJ Council, Ekiti State.

The Chairman of the Council in the State, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi made the declaration during the union’s dinner held on Saturday at an event center in Ado Ekiti, the State capital.

Online media chapel won the award based on its ingenuity, timely and accurate reportage of events which has placed the Chapel above all other Chapels of NUJ in the State as members of the public always rely on them as source of news, especially now that newspaper organisations can no longer print much copies due to high cost of printing materials. Just as radio and television stations in the state can no longer run for longer hours again as most of them rely on diesel as source of power.

Receiving the monetary award, the Chairman of the Online Media in Ekiti, Comrade Ayodele Abere, commended the leadership of NUJ in the state for the award.

Comrade Abere used the occasion to charge all online journalists to brace up for more tasks ahead, saying the recognition would spur the chapel to do more in terms of timely, accurate and objective reportage to all happenings.

He said since online media is now a veritable platform for information dissemination, that all members of the general public should always utilize it.
