2023:Yoruba Group Drums Support for SDP Presidential Candidate

The support base for the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, during the February 2023 presidential election has received another boost, following the public declaration of support by a pan-yoruba social organisation.

The group under the aegis of Agbajowo Advocacy For Yoruba People’s Right (AAYPR) consists of various age groups including artisans, market women, youths and students vowed to support the SDP candidate during the forthcoming election and ensure the victory of the party.

The group during its meeting held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, vowed to vote for the party and mobilize its members to organize a solidarity rally for the SDP candidate.

In a statement by the National President of the group, Otunba Muyideen Olamoyegun and the Secretary, Bolawa Akindolie, said members of the group are spread across Ondo, Ekiti and Osun States and are ready to work for the candidate of the SDP.

The statement said the group was moved by the manifesto of the SDP candidate and other plans he had for the people of the country which they said were tergeted at ameleorating the plight of the people of the country.

The group also said its party had concluded plans to organize a possession rally for the SDP on a date to be announced later, apparently to ensure the success of the SDP.

According to the statement the decision of the group to organised the programme is aimed towards ensuring the success of the party during the 2023 presidential election.

The group described the SDP presidential candidate as a visionary leader, who will transform the country if voted into power, called on the people of Ondo, Osun and Ekiti States to support the group at ensuring the success of the SDP in the forthcoming election.

The group which reiterated the readiness of her members to maintain law and orders before, during and after the election, described the Ondo town Prince as an embodiment of knowledge, saying if voted in into power he would not disappoint the people of the country.

The statement said members of the group numbering about 12,000 and cut across all Yoruba speaking States were out to ensure the success of the SDP during the conduct of the election.
