Ahead of the forthcoming elections, Muslims in Ekiti State converged at the Central Mosque, Ado-Ekiti to offer prayer to Allah for a successful poll.
The prayer session was organised by the office of the Ekiti State Chairman , Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs(NSVIA) ,Dr Hammed Bakare and coordinated by the Grand Imam.
Muslim Leaders ,Community Imams , heads of various Islamic Institutions, ,as well as some university scholars attended the event.
The session featured the recitation of the complete glorious Qur’an while Special Prayers were offered for Nigeria ,Ekiti State and communities as well as individuals .
At the session, the Grand Imam of Ekiti State and President-General of League of Imam and Alfas South-West, Edo & Delta State,Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello urged Nigerians, particularly Muslims to shun all acts of violence and brigandage, but conduct themselves in a peaceful manner before, during and after the elections.
Sheikh Kewulere said it is the duty Muslims to always pray for peaceful coexistence and wellbeing of their immediate communities and the nation.
” Today we have gathered here today to seek Allah’s face for the pending elections.The election is crucial .We implore Muslims to conduct themselves peaceful and orderly manner before,during and after the poll .
In his remarks, Dr Bakare said the prayer cannot come at a better time than now when Nigerians are going through hardships
The NSCIA chairman also urged Muslims to steer clear of any act of violence and brigandage during the poll .
The Muslim leader appreciated the Muslim clerics who graced the session urging them not to relent in their prayers for the nation.
Other muslims leaders who graced the event were ,Professor Musa AbdulRaheen ,former Ekiti NSCIA chairman, Yakubu Oladoro Sanni the Chief Imams of Erinjinya and Ikole among others .
