10th Assembly: Sen. Raji Rasaki congratulates Akpabio, Abbas over elections victory

…urges them to pilot affairs of legislative arm with equity, fairness

Senator who represented Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Fatimat Raji Rasaki has congratulated the newly elected President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon.Tajudeen Abbas for their victories at the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, describing it as a reflection of the wishes of majority of their colleagues and Nigerians in the hallow Chambers.

Reacting to the parliamentary Presiding officers election, the former Lagos First Lady commended the political resilience of Senator Akpabio and Hon.Tajudeen Abbas throughout the period of campaigning for the positions, noting that their efforts have been rewarded with the victory.

The Senator who represented Ekiti central at the red chamber urged the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to be magnanimous in victory and pilot the affairs in the nation legislative arm with equity and fairness irrespective of party affiliation or creed.

Sen. Raji Rasaki also used the avenue to commend the sportsmanship of Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari, who contested keenly in the Senate Presiding Officers election, describing him as a worthy statesman.

“Sen. Yari has set a classic acceptance of the aphorism that power belongs to God and He grants whoever He pleases. For this, history will be kind to him.

Also, Hon. Aminu Jaji and Hon. Idris Wase of the House of Representatives who contested against the Speaker have also set a standard in the history of this nation political class despite the overwhelming outcome of the election results that gave Speaker Tajudeen victory.

“I am confident that this election has further demonstrated that democracy has come to stay in our Nigeria. I urged all the Lawmakers to join hands and work with the present leadership of the National Assembly adding that, their collaboration is the only impetus for Nigeria greatness.” Sen. Raji Rasaki said.

She therefore appealed to the members of the tenth assembly to put in place laws that would change the fortune of the nation for good and supported President Bola Tinubu to achieve his electioneering promises.
