Alleged Organ Harvest: Ekiti Residents Cry Out Over Delay in Report of Panel of Inquiry

allege plan by powerful officials to doctor report

Some people of Ekiti State have begun to express concern and worry over the delay in the report of the panel of inquiry set up to investigate the alleged case of kidney removal of a teacher, Mr. Joshua Afolayan by a consultant at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.

The Chairman, Board of Management of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Adedamola Dada, had constituted a seven-man Panel of Inquiry headed by Prof. Francis Faduyile, an Anatomic Pathologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, to investigate the case within ten days.

However, barely fifteen days since the committee was set up, nothing has been heard, and the health of the victim has continued to deteriorate.

All efforts to speak with the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls.

His subordinates were also contacted and they confirmed that he is not available.

Residents who reacted condemned the delay in such an emergency case.

Some alleged that the delay was a deliberate tactic to frustrate the victim until he gives up.

The people appealed to Governor Oyebanji to intervene in the situation and save the life of the dying young man.

Investigation by our correspondent shows that the panel had concluded the investigation and had submitted its report which was kept by powerful officials handling the case perhaps because they were not satisfied with the recommendations.
