A member of the House of Representatives representing Ado/Irepodun-Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Hon. Steve Olusola Fatoba, has thanked All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Ado Local Government Area after they endorsed him for a third term in office.
The endorsement comes weeks after party stakeholders in Irepodun-Ifelodun LGA also declared support for his re-election ahead of the 2027 general election. Fatoba was first elected to the House in 2019.
Speaking on Sunday shortly after the endorsement by party leaders and stakeholders, the lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Information and National Orientation, Ethics and Values, described the development as humbling and a call to greater service. “First of all, I give thanks to Almighty God for His love and mercy upon my life and upon our state. I do not take this moment for granted,” he said.
Fatoba commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he called mature and strategic handling of political arrangements in the state, saying such leadership had helped avert potential crises. “If not carefully handled, it could have led to unnecessary disturbances, but God has used him to maintain stability,” he stated.
He expressed appreciation to political leaders and stakeholders within his constituency, including former governors, party elders, and APC leaders, for their roles in his political journey. He also recognised traditional authorities, especially the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, for their consistent backing. “Their desire for the growth and development of our town has been instrumental. The importance of having a ranking member in the House of Representatives cannot be overstated, as it brings immense benefits to the constituency, the state, and the nation at large,” he noted.
Fatoba said the endorsement, alongside that of other party leaders including Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, reflected their performance and dedication to service. “This endorsement is not by accident; it is a product of our contributions, our performance, and our commitment to the people both at the constituency and senatorial district levels. I deeply appreciate every stakeholder who made today possible,” he said.
On plans for the next legislative cycle, the lawmaker said recent consultations with party leaders and constituents had highlighted areas requiring improvement, with human capital development and empowerment initiatives topping the list. “From my engagements across the constituency, the feedback has been clear. There is a strong demand for increased empowerment and human capital development. This is an area I am committed to improving significantly,” he explained.
Fatoba pledged to facilitate more developmental projects to the constituency, building on his record in office. He disclosed that he had secured jobs for no fewer than 50 constituents and promised to expand employment opportunities. “We have done a lot, but we will do more. I am determined to ensure that our people feel the impact of governance more directly,” he assured, adding that he would never take the mandate for granted.
