EKITI GOVERNMENT, LABOUR LEADERS SIGN MOU FOR PAYMENT OF 70,000 MINIMUM WAGE

Ekiti State Government and Labour leaders in the state have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the payment of the #70,000 new minimum wage approved by the Federal Government.

At a brief ceremony in Ado Ekiti, the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi confirmed that the payment would commenced immediately.

She appreciated Governor Oyebanji for his kind heart to begin the payment not minding the meagre resources of the state.

Dr. Olomojobi hoped that the new payment would enhance service delivery but called on workers to work with government to generate more income needed to sustain the payment.

In their separate remarks, the NLC Chairman, Comrade Olatunde Kolapo and his TUC counterpart, Comrade Sola Adigun commended the Governor for doing the needful.

They confirmed that the new minimum wage cut across all cadres, agencies, parastatals and even pensioners.

Also, the JNC Chairman, Comrade Femi Ajoloko said the consequential adjustment and template of Ekiti was a fair deal.

He appreciated Governor Oyebanji for his magnanimity and promised that workers would continue to support him.
