As the world celebrates the 2025 International Albinism Awareness Day with the theme “Demanding our Rights, Protecting our Skin, and Preserving our Lives,” we shine the spotlight on Amb. Muyiwa Abegunde, a trailblazing figure in Ekiti State and a pioneer for albinism rights. As the Executive Director of the Albinism Network, Amb. Abegunde has dedicated his life to advocating for the rights and inclusion of individuals with albinism.

Amb. Abegunde’s journey into albinism advocacy began with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with albinism. His passion and commitment drove him to volunteer with prominent albinism organizations in Nigeria, including The Albino Foundation (TAF) Now TAF AFRICA under the leadership of Jake Epelle and The Albino Association (TANA) under the Founding President Elder Adeyemi Dada. We also recognised the tireless efforts of the National AAN President under the Leadership of Dr Mrs Olabisi Bamishe.
