YPP Presidential Aspirant Olajide Filani Calls for Stronger Borders to Tackle Insecurity

Young Progressives Party, YPP, presidential aspirant, Mr. Olajide Filani, has called for stronger border controls and improved internal security systems to curb insurgency, banditry, and cross-border crime in Nigeria.

Mr Filani made the call while speaking with journalists in Lagos, reacting to the recent abduction of pupils in Oyo State.

He said the incident highlights the urgent need to secure schools and communities across the country.

The YPP aspirant urged the federal and state governments to deploy modern surveillance technology and fortify vulnerable border points.

According to him, a combination of digital monitoring, intelligence gathering, and physical barriers would make it harder for criminal gangs to operate freely.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening internal systems, including policing, emergency response, and inter-agency coordination.

Filani argued that without effective local structures, even the best border controls would fall short.

Filani called on authorities to prioritize the safety of lives and property by allocating resources to security infrastructure and personnel training.

He said citizens should not have to live in fear while going about their daily activities.

The YPP aspirant concluded by urging political leaders to move beyond rhetoric and take decisive steps to protect Nigerians, noting that security remains the foundation for national development and economic growth.
