Firstly, let me ask you, what is (are) your desire(s)? Are your desires godly or devilish? In your daily undertakings, on whose side are you day and night —- God or Satan?.
It is unfortunate these days that youths desire lives of luxury that will not exert any labour from them. Whereas this is a world where normally there is no success without labour.
The society is turned upside down by the awry desires that are out of the godly context prescribed for man in the bible. It is obvious that every step taken by man in abnegation of God’s laws shall result in failure.
An average man whether you like it or not is made up of body, soul and spirit. In any case since the Adamic nature of free will became man’s choice right from the garden of Eden, man was consigned automatically to the choice of employing the power of the flesh upon his soul and the power of the spirit of God.
No ordinary man can decide to be in the right except by the spirit of God. However, no matter your pedigree ( Christian or infidels) your freewill will play a big role in your choices. The great Apostle Paul in his letter to the Christians in Galatians 5:16 says ” This I say then, walk in the spirit and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the spirit,ye are not under the law (of sin and death).
The consequences of our desires are the result of what our lives and that of the general society will become. For instance, a young boy whose desire is to chase after young girls when he grows up or even has a desire to be a killer or murderer in future has automatically mortgaged his life and that of any society where he finds himself.
Since man fell in the garden, the flesh has never produced any good results. Gal 5:19 says “Now the work of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness etc. Paul says, “they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (Gal 5:21) In verse 22 of the same chapter, the bible says “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there no law (no condemnation).
You may wonder why the flesh is so overwhelming? The bible says out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks forth. Do you know that the worldly desires that stream from your heart are the control flesh has over your spirit and soul? Contrary wise, if godly desires control your system always, it will automatically overwhelm your flesh and soul, even the physical body you regard as flesh will remain holy.
This is why the bible in Colossians 3:5-7 says “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence and covetousness which is idolatry: For which things sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience. In the which ye also walked sometimes, when ye lived in them”.
What do you desire? Parents what do you teach your children at home? Teachers what do you teach your students in school? Pastors and General overseers, what do you teach your congregation? Children and wives, what do you hear and share with your colleagues?etc, the list is in
exhaustive in this age of information technology where we are all exposed to satanic overtures. Unknowingly most people see it as part of the benefits humans reap in modern technology. We neglect its usefulness and immerse our lives’ desires in the fleshly lust in them. This is the evil of our time. Perhaps we need more training on how to employ the use of our hearts to modern technology via the social media. Everybody sure knows the world and our society were safer places than these when these developments were yet to be introduced.
Christians should wake up now. Never be caught off guard in unholy desires and do not allow any iota of the flesh give birth to evil desires which can hatch into disaster in your lives. Watch and pray and that is what the bible says. God bless. Shalom.
