Workers of Ekiti State College of Health Sciences & Technology Ijero-Ekiti, Joins Advocacy Walk to End Digital Violence Against Women, Girls

On 10th December, 2025, the Chairperson, Committee on Gender-Based Violence, Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti, Dr. Tolulope Ayo-Awe, joined the advocacy walk against GBV, powered by Her Excellency, the First Lady of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji.

Dr. Ayo-Awe, who led other staff of the Committee, including Mr. Adeyiola Ibikunle and COHESTI students, to the state capital for the exercise, had earlier supervised a sensitization session on Gender-Based Violence within the college community.

Notably, the Chairperson, with the support of other members, had conducted a survey among the students to test their knowledge of the subject, GBV, using the questionnaire method, an exercise described as challenging but impactful.

Responding to questions during an interactive session, Dr. Ayo-Awe noted that no woman deserves digital bullying or any form of violence. She added that everyone, irrespective of gender, has the right to speak out against violence.

While expressing gratitude to COHESTI Management and the Social Work Department, the Committee Chairperson maintained that the Ekiti State First Lady had done tremendously well in aspects such as championing the rights of the girl child, advocating against Gender-Based Violence, and more.

She seized the medium to disclose to students of the Institution a toll-free mobile number to call to report any form of violence.

The theme for the 2025 sensitization walk was “Unite! to end Digital Violence against all Women and Girls”.
