…matriculates 400 students

The Founder, Ajayi Polytechnic, Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State, Dr Busayo Ajayi said the institution is committed to producing giants through inclusive entrepreneurship, innovative education of best practices.
Dr. Ajayi, who said this at the 6th Matriculation Ceremony of the institution on Friday, noted that the Polytechnic was founded to provide necessary trainings and appropriate skills for the students to be self-employed.
He revealed that they have laid the foundation of a world-class digital classroom and solar farm aimed at ensuring that students gain work experience during their course of study.
His words: “The Polytechnic will continue to focus on its core purpose, which is to produce giants, through inclusive entrepreneurship and innovative education.
“Ajayi Polytechnic was thus founded to provide the necessary trainings and appropriate skills that will make an individual to be self-reliant or be gainfully employed.
“I will like to inform you that our 1st set of students hostel is low ready. We will be laying foundation of our world-class digital classroom and solar farm today. We are doing all of these because we want our students to gain work experience while studying.”
In his address, the Chairman, Governing Council of the Polytechnic, Prof. Michael Folorunsho Alonge reiterated the institution’s drive towards ensuring that students are gainfully employed.
While regretting the high rate of unemployment in the country, he urged the students to sieze the opportunity to harness resources for their benefit.
“What we are wearing today is the handiwork of the students of the Polytechnic. When you go out, you will see graduates in the country with no job and that is the gap Ajayi Polytechnic seek to address, to be self-employed.
“It pains me as an individual when you finish and no jobs. Our government have a lot work to do. The politicians are the ones creating problems for us. I want to seize this opportunity to urge the students to harness your resources and what you are being taught is put into practice.”
The Acting Rector, Dr Bolanle Ajayi tasked the students to approach their studies with all level of dedication and pick up a skill that will make them self-reliant.
She said: “I want you to know that this school is facing giants. We are not here to raise hooligans but here to raise giants. You must take one skill because we want you to be self-reliant. You are here to learn, face your studies, obey your lecturers and take your assignments very serious.”
No fewer than 400 students matriculated in various programmes in the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels of the institution.
