…Swears in Over 1,000 Prospective Corp Members
The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has said that the wellbeing of Corps members in the state is a personal priority of his administration.
The Governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Mrs. Akinwunmi Sola, made this known during the Swearing-in and Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Batch C Stream I Orientation Course for Corps members deployed to Ekiti State.
Gov. Oyebanji said, “Let me assure you that the state will continue to assist the NYSC within the limits of our resources. The NYSC in Ekiti State deserves more, and we will do everything in our power to put smiles on your faces.”
While he assured of accelerated administrative actions towards the refurbishment of major facilities and infrastructure at the NYSC camp in Ise-Emure, Ekiti State, he stated that the contributions of corps members who had served in the state have remained impressive over the years.
Also speaking at the event, the State Coordinator of the Scheme, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu who commended the Governor for interventions and continued support for the scheme in the state, adding, “Your presence is pivotal to the success of today’s ceremony.”
According to him, despite the biting economic situation, more than 1,000 corps members have been registered already, with about 498 males and 631 females, pointing to the “dire” passion in the Nigerian Youth to serve the nation.
Enjoining corps members to take advantage of all activities within the orientation timeline, Alhaji Riko reemphasized the need for selflessness and dedication to service. In his words, “Do not forget the motto of the NYSC, Service and Humility.”
The Oath of Allegiance to Corps members was presented by Justice Lekan Adekanye, the acting Chief Judge of Ekiti State, represented by Justice Olatawa.
The ceremony had heads of government, security, and collaborating agencies, traditional fathers, officials and staff of the NYSC, men of the press, and all corps members in attendance.
