The Rector, Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti, Prof. Johnson Adesodun said the institution will continue to deploy digital technology to enhance the learning process.

Prof. Adesodun made this known at the 3rd Matriculation Ceremony of the Polytechnic on Thursday in Isan-Ekiti.

According to him, the Polytechnic is targeting to increase the number of programmes to expand their base and increase the number of students.

His words: “Academic programmes started on this campus in 2021 immediately after the Covid-19 and we are happy that we are having the 3rd matriculation ceremony.

“We are in a digital generation. The Polytechnic will continue to deploy digital technology to enhance their learning and also stress the need for them to maintain absolute discipline on campus. We have zero tolerance for indecent behaviours, dressing and unruly behaviours.

“We are looking up to increase our programmes and we have four now. You can’t just float programmes without the approval of the federal government agency. Our plan is to increase the programme, particularly more sciences and other courses like Science and Laboratory Technology.

“With that we will be able to expand our base and increase our admission. The numbers of students you see is based on approved quota but when you have more programmes with more facilities, you can attract more students.”

In his remarks, the Head of Matriculation, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Ekiti State, Mr. Ishola Babaita lauded the giant strides of the Polytechnic noting that it will be a force to reckon with in the near future.

“Congratulations to you for this epoch occasion. It is a well-known fact that your school is one of the fast-growing schools not just in Ekiti State but Nigeria in general.

“I know in no distant time this place will be an edifice where other people will copy. All they have been doing is according to the law of admission process. I want you to put all your efforts in your academic activities.”

Some of the students who spoke with reporters expressed joy and happiness for being a part of the matriculation ceremony.

Peter Idowu said: “I’m super excited and great privilege to be matriculated as a student of this institution. My main of coming here is to improve myself and focus on my studies in line with my course which is computer science.”

Another respondent, Joseph Dosu of the Department of Computer Science said he plans to bring new innovations to the world: “My plan is to create more activities for the world to see and bring new technologies to the world.”

No fewer than 70 students were matriculated into various disciplines in the School of Business and Management Studies, School of Engineering Technology and School of Agricultural Technology.
