The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ekiti State Branch is in grief over the death of her leader, Dr Lawrence Kayode Obembe, who died at the age of 75 describing his death as a painful loss to the health Sector.
In a statement in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti NMA Chairman, Dr Ifedayo Oreyemi affirmed that Dr. Obembe was a thoroughbred professional who made positive impact in the health sector.
According to him, Dr. Obembe had served the national body diligently and had pioneered many other developmental projects within the Association and in his vicinity.
He noted that under his tenure as the President of the association, NMA Ekiti branch hosted its first National Executive Council meeting in December, 2015.
Dr Ifedayo described his death as a huge loss to the association, adding that his indelible footprints will forever be remembered.
The statement further reads, “He pioneered many other developmental projects within the NMA and his native town of Oke-Ayedun Ekiti.
“He was a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and a former member of SOGON and the NARD President in 1982.
“He was the Chairman NMA, Oyo State in 2000, President NMA, 2014-2016, and the CEO/Medical Director, Chritus Special Hospital, Ibadan and Premier Medical (HMO)”.
“We will definitely miss him, his good work and his kind heart.
Dr Oreyemi prayed God to grant him eternal life and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
