Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has condemned the wave of killings in Benue State, describing the attacks on communities in Otukpo Local Government Area as unacceptable.
The Benue-born artiste made the remarks on Wednesday during a visit to Otukpo-Nobi, one of the communities attacked by suspected armed herdsmen.
The visit comes weeks after gunmen launched a deadly attack on the community on July 12, 2026, killing at least 10 residents and leaving several others injured.
Sharing a video from the visit on his Instagram page, 2Baba described Benue as home, saying that when home hurts, everyone feels it, and that the visit was about standing together, listening, and reminding one another that hope is never lost.
Addressing members of the community, the singer sympathised with victims and their families, urging stakeholders to unite in finding lasting solutions to the persistent attacks.
Lamenting the continued bloodshed, he said the situation had become unbearable and could no longer be ignored. He said things had become too much and that pretending was no longer an option, stressing the need to begin planning, and expressing confidence that a solution would eventually be found even if it did not come automatically.
The music icon stressed that ending the violence would require a collective effort from all stakeholders. He said the fight against the killings could not fall on one person alone and that everyone needed to come together to tackle it, adding that he had come to sympathise with the community and describing the situation as painful.
