WARD CONGRESS: EKITI PDP ADOPTS CONSENSUS ARRANGEMENT

…as caretaker Chairman says PDP will unseat Governor Oyebanji

Ekiti State People’s Democratic Party PDP has agreed to produce concensus executive members across the one hundred and seventy seven wards during the next congress of the party.

Members and leaders of the party reached the agreement during a stakeholders meeting held in Ado Ekiti.

Motion for the adoption of census candidates for the wards Executives was moved by Mrs C.O Adesoro and seconded by Alhaji Dauda Arise.

After that, leaders of the PDP in the sixteen local governments of the State submitted names of the candidates for wards Executives to the leaders of the party for adoption.

Earlier, declaring the stakeholders meeting open, caretaker Chairman of People’s Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Chief Dare Adeleke said the the National leadership of the party would support Ekiti PDP to unseat Governor Biodun Oyebabanji during the next Governorship poll in the state.

Chief Adeleke said the meeting was hold to unite members of the party across the sixteen local Government election to take over mantle of leadership from present administration in the state.

The caretaker Chairman Urged members of Ekiti PDP to shun division and do away with faction, saying the party can only achieve its goal in unionism.

His words ” aspirants jostling for one position or another at the state level should endeavor not to make a bad situation worse. The state of the party right now is so delicate, and any action that promotes division in the party will not be tolerated. The party belongs to everyone. Nobody is more important than another. At the end of the day, aspirants must realise that only one person can occupy a position at a point in time and when the leaders take their decisions on any position, It should be respected”

“I also want to appeal to all our distinguished leaders not to interfere in any local government outside their own. People must be allowed to choose their own excos by their own standards. Wards differ. Local governments differ with their peculiarities and norms. People must be allowed to do things with reference to the norms, traditions, and standards of their wards and local governments”

“To pass a message to our distractors, especially the agents of APC & 4+4 of BAO, among us that it is no longer business as usual. They believed we could never work together, they have boasted that we could never agree on anything, but to the glory of God, this meeting proved them wrong”

“To send a clear message to the ruling APC that PDP is back to take over”

“To send a signal to those who are still sitting on the fence, especially those who are watching from afar, to see how things will turn out in our congresses before making their decisions”

In their contributions, a former lawmaker, Senator Duro Faseyi, former Deputy Governor in the State, Professor Kolapo Eleka, former House of representatives member, Dr Segun Adekola appealed to members of the party to continue praying for the party before, during and after the ward congress to be a successful one, urging members to embrace unity.

Also, former PDP Chairman in Ekiti, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe and another former Chairman of the Party, Chief Gboyega Oguntuase charged members to place interest of party above others, saying the party is the choice of Ekiti people due to his welfare and lofty programmes for citizens while in power.
