Union Leaders Hail Governor Oyebanji Over Supply of Electricity to EKSU

…seek reinstatement of sacked members

The Joint Action Committee of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, known as JAC III has appreciated Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for the extension of electricity to the university through the Independent Power Plant.

JAC III comprises, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU),  National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU)

In a statement jointly signed by SSANU Chairman, Comrade Temidayo Azeez Aguda, NASU Chairman, Comrade Olajutemi Sunday Kola and NAAT Chairman, Comrade Adeosun O. Mary the union leaders explained that the gesture of the Governor would enhance research, teaching, learning and administrative activities.

According to them, the importance of stable electricity in any tertiary institution cannot be quantified.

The JAC III leaders noted that the  development had further attested to the fact that  Governor Oyebanji has immeasurable passion for academic excellence.

They promised the readiness of members of staff to ensure proper maintenance of the facility and remain committed in their services so as to justify the expenses of government in the institution.

The union leaders  however appealed to the Governor to ensure the reinstatement of some members of staff who were sacked few years ago.

They noted that, though, some of them have been taken back, few others who are left behind should be reinstated.

Similarly, the union leaders congratulated management of the school and the visitor to the university, Governor Oyebanji for the recent approval of ten new important courses by the National University Commission.
