Due to bad weather, the historic ceremony that marked Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States was held inside the Capitol Rotunda on Monday.
Trump touched on issues of gender, race, border control, economic reforms, and energy as part of his ambitious agenda for his administration in his inaugural address. Trump claimed that his government would only acknowledge the two genders of men and women, thereby rejecting identities like genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary.
“I will put an end to the government’s practice of integrating gender and race into every facet of both public and private life this week. “From now on, the U.S. government will formally assert that there are only two genders: male and female,” Trump said.
As part of his plans to restructure the trade system, Trump promised to remove the financial burden from American taxpayers by establishing a “External Revenue Service” to collect tariffs from other nations.
“In order to safeguard American families and workers, I will start making changes to our trade system right away. We will tax and impose tariffs on foreign nations to benefit our citizens, rather than taxing our citizens to benefit other nations,” Trump said. The president pledged to use the substantial oil and gas reserves in the country to turn America back into a “manufacturing nation.”
Trump announced actions to combat unlawful immigration and proclaimed a national emergency at the southern border. “We will block all unauthorized entry and start the process of repatriating millions of criminal aliens.” Catch-and-release operations will cease, and the Remain in Mexico policy will be restored. In order to repel this invasion, troops will guard our borders,” he declared.
