TRAGEDY: VISUALLY IMPAIRED PREGNANT WOMAN BREAKS LEG DURING DOMESTIC ACCIDENT IN EKITI

A visually impaired woman in Ikere, Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Modupeola Sarah Obe has broken her right leg after she fell in her compound.

Sarah Obe who is heavily pregnant and due to give birth is currently groaning in pain due to her condition.

To this end, the woman appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji and well meaning Nigerians to support her financially to be able to pay her medical bills and attend to other needs.

Modupeola, who graduated from Adeyemi Federal University of Education with a degree in Social Studies Education said that she lost her sight at the age of four due to complications from measles.

She noted that her recent troubles began February 21, 2023 when she fell on her way to use the toilet where she suffered a severe fracture on her right leg.

“I was familiar with the place and felt relaxed, so I didn’t use my walking stick, after the fall I was taken to a traditional doctor, Arogun Traditional Orthopedic Hospital where I have been on admission since then.” she recounted.

With a baby on the way and her due date fast approaching, Modupeola is struggling to cover her medical expenses and provide for her family.

She appealed to Governor Oyebanji and well meaning Nigerians for assistance to alleviate her financial burden and secure empowerment to support her family.

“By the grace of God, I’m improving, but I don’t have money to pay my bills and also to support my family as my pregnancy is due, and I’m waiting to deliver, I am appealing to His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji and every concerned persons to come to my aid in order to offset my bills and also empower me to provide for my family,” she pleaded.

Speaking on her health status, Mr. Arogun, the Director of Arogun Traditional Orthopedic Hospital Ikere Ekiti where Modupeola has been on admission corroborated the plight of the patient.

His words: “When she was brought here, her condition was really critical as the bone was broken in two, however since she came I can say that she has been improving and that is a good sign for her and her unborn child.

“Though she didn’t have money to pay the bills, we commenced treatment having pleaded that she would sort funds to pay the bills along the way.”
