“If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.” – Albert Einstein
On January 24, 2025, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, a former member of the House of Representatives, unveiled the concept of “The BAOWALK,” a monthly wellness walk aimed at promoting physical activity and reducing the financial burden of healthcare services.
Despite initial skepticism, with some critics labeling the idea absurd and attempting to discredit it through media campaigns, The BAOWALK has continued to shine bright and bright like a morning star and becoming the toast of all.
The first edition, held in Ikole Ekiti, drew an impressive 5,000 participants, and subsequent walks in Ijero and Gbonyin local governments were equally successful, with thousands attending from far and near.

As the walk’s benefits became apparent, people from across the state have shown remarkable commitment, with some embracing the lifestyle and sharing testimonials.
Even the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has shown his support by participating in a walk within the government house. The BAOWALK has also received endorsements from prominent personalities including a
former Chairman of APC and Special Adviser to the Governor Oyebanji on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe, A former Minister, Senator and now the Chairman, Nigeria Port Authority, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, a former Senator, Babafemi Ojudu, just to mention but a few.
The success of The BAOWALK serves as a testament to the power of innovative ideas, even in the face of adversity. As Einstein’s words suggest, sometimes it’s the seemingly absurd ideas that hold the most promise.
As the train of the walk set to hit, Ilejemeje, residents of the council are enjoined to participate actively so as to also enjoy the health benefits of the walk.
