The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has affirmed that the tax reforms bill initiated by the Federal Government will reshape the country’s economic landscape hence it must be supported by all.
called for stakeholders collaboration to combat insecurity and other potential threats in Ekiti State.
The Director General of the Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu stated this on Wednesday during a Press conference and sensitization campaign on “Security Consciousness, Get Rich Quick Syndrome, HIV/AIDS Eradication, Human Rights and Tax Reforms.”
Represented by the Director, Community Outreach and Development, Mrs. Olubukola Olorunfemi, DG Issa-Onilu explained that the reform was not also targeted at undermining any section of the country.
He harped on the essence of imbibing the culture of vigilance and responsibility within communities to promote safe environment and called on collaboration from necessary stakeholders in pursuing that cause.
His words, “I urge all stakeholders to collaborate with National Orientation Agency in sensitizing our citizens about potential threats and fostering partnerships between local communities and law enforcement agencies.”
On Get rich quick syndrome, the DG implored stakeholders to promote the virtues of hard work, patience, integrity and properly utilize the opportunities provided through government initiatives to enhance better living condition for the people, the youths in particular.
On combating HIV/AIDS, Mallam Issa-Onilu called for the integration of HIV/AIDS Education into school curriculum and Communities, as well as ensuring accessible medical support.
“It is essential to integrate HIV/AIDS education into our schools, workplaces, and communities while ensuring access to testing, treatment, and support for those affected.
“Let us commit ourselves into achieving zero discrimination and zero new infections.”
Also Speaking, the State Director of NOA, Mrs. Kemi Akomolede commended the initiatives of the DG aimed at promoting the growth of the country.
She emphasized that the matters of security is a collective responsibility and as such, one should take necessary measures when the need arises.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale represented by the DCP, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga urged stakeholders to be security conscious of their environment, avoid keeping late hours, non disclosure of personal information in order to eschew unprecedented situations.
He further urged parent to imbibe in their children the essence of hardwork to help discourage get rich quick syndrome.
Also present at the programme were the stakeholders from different agencies; NDLEA, DSS, ministries, traditional leaders, students, corps members and other well meaning residents of the state.
