Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara Calls for Calm Amid State of Emergency

Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has addressed the public following the declaration of a state of emergency in the state. In a statement, Fubara expressed his commitment to constitutional order and the rule of law, emphasizing that his administration has always prioritized the protection of lives and property, as well as the progress of Rivers State.

Fubara highlighted his efforts to foster peace and stability, including implementing terms agreed upon during President’s intervention to resolve the political impasse. He also noted his swift compliance with the Supreme Court’s judgment to restore normalcy in the state. However, he accused members of the Rivers State House of Assembly of obstructing these efforts, making genuine progress difficult.

Despite political disagreements, Fubara assured the public that governance had continued effectively under his leadership, with salaries paid, projects executed, and the state remaining safe and secure. He urged Rivers residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding during this critical time, expressing faith in the democratic process and the resilience of the people.

Fubara concluded by reaffirming his commitment to engaging with relevant institutions to ensure the state’s continued stability and prosperity.
