Following the decision of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC to embark on a nationwide strike, the Federal Government, FG, has secured an order of interim injunction restraining the Unions from striking.
This was revealed recently on the Twitter handle of the Director Media and Publicity, Tinubu Campaign, Bayo Onanuga, @aonanuga.
The case was between the Federal Government, the Honourable Attorney-General Of the Federation & the Minister of Justice vs. the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
The FG sought the order in suit no: NICNJABJ/158/2023, and Justice O. Y. Anuwe issued the order today in a statement and adjourned further hearing till 19 June.
The order reads: “The defendants/Respondents (TUC, NLC) are hereby restrained from embarking on the planned Industrial Action/or strike of any nature, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion
on Notice dated 5th June 2023.
“It is ordered that the defendant/ Respondents be immediately
served with the originating processes in this suit, the Motion
on Notice and the order of this court hereby made.
“The Motion on Notice is hereby fixed for hearing on 19th June
2023.” He noted.
