
A Non-Governmental Organization SHERO IMPACT, founded by a philanthropist , Sumbo Popoola has distributed free sanitary pads to students of various secondary school in Ekiti State with a target of ten thousand beneficiaries by end of 2025
The initiative tagged”Pad Her to Fly” kicked off with three schools, comprising Government Special School for the Blind, Ikere Ekiti, Success Galore Group of Schools, Ikere Ekiti and Government Science College, Iyin Ekiti.
Speaking with Newsmen, the Project Coordinator Adejoke Adebayo-Salami said the organization aimed to give back to the society through the initiative, by helping to boost the confidence, self esteem and self hygiene of the girl child during her monthly cycle.
She noted that the program also aimed at educating the students on sex education to help curtail some immoral vices obtainable in the society.
She expressed optimism of the project to achieve greater feat this year.
In her lecture, a representative from the Gender Based Unit, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC Ekiti Command, DSC Adeyemo Dupe enlightened the students on Sex Education, Gender Based Violence and how to maintain healthy relationship between both genders.
DSC Adeyemo charged the students to abstain from all forms of sexual immorality and be confident enough to report any form of violence meted on them to the appropriate authority.
On Self Confidence, a High Impact Trainer, Daniel Oluwayiose encouraged the students to eschew any company that negatively effect them. He urged them to build a positive mindset, self confidence and keep good company.
Responding, the Principals of the benefiting schools commended the organizers of the program for the gesture which they described as thoughtful.
The students on their part, took turns to commend the NGO for the knowledge impacted and the free pads distributed.
