SHELVE YOUR PLANNED PROTEST, EMBRACE DIALOGUE…BUREAU OF CIVIC ORIENTATION URGES EKITI YOUTHS

The Director-General General, Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship, Ekiti State, Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa has appealed to youths in Ekiti State to ignore the call for a nationwide protest scheduled for first of August this year due to it’s negative consequences.

Mrs Famuyiwa in a statement in Ado Ekiti equaly called on parents, guardians, traditional and religious leaders to prevail on their subjects not to be part of the protest.

According to her, nothing positive can be achieved in an atmosphere of rancour and chaos, urging the youths to adopt a more subtle approach to channel their grievances so as not to further plunge the country into another setback.

Mrs. Famuyiwa stressed the need to learn from the current situation in Kenya, saying the protest against a bill has not yielded any positive results but instead led to loss of lives, property and fortunes.

She affirmed that Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has also not rested on his oars in a bid to cushion the economic hardship and make life better for all citizens.

Famuyiwa explained that since the inception of Governor Oyebanji various developmental projects have been initiated, hence it is important to guide against any action that may disrupt the progress of such projects and government programmes.

She noted that some of the sponsors of the August 1-10 protest do not mean well for the country, saying they only want to use the youths as tools to achieve their selfish interest.

The DG expressed optimism that the Nation would still witness a positive turnaround urging every one to be patient and keep praying for the nation and her leaders.
