…as HPV Technical Working Group holds meeting ahead of vaccination
As Ekiti State prepares for the introduction of the Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine to the girl child between age 9 and 14, stakeholders in Ekiti State have been advised to ensure regular sensitization of their people on the health benefits of the vaccine.
This sensitization is to prepare the minds of the people to ensure an hitch free exercise scheduled to begin by March, 2024.
Ekiti State Coordinator, World Health Organisation, Mr Akeem.Busari made the call while addressing members of the HPV Technical Working Group, which consists of relevant organisations such as, UNICEF, Media, health officials just to mention but a few.
Mr. Busari affirmed that the vaccine is healthy and would prevent the girl child cervical cancer.
Also speaking, the Director General, Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr.Ayodele Seluwa noted that the government of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is concerned about the health of his people and would not engage in any activity that could jeopardize such dream.
He advised residents to embrace the vaccine and cooperate with health officials.
Similarly, the Director, Disease Control and Immunization, Dr Nicholas Ojo the stakeholders to disabuse the mind of their people on the fake news and myths that the vaccine may prevent child birth or have negative implications on the girl child.
It was agreed during the meeting that massive awareness would be carried out on Radio and other media organisations.
