SACA hails Global Fund Over Support for Ekiti Health System

The General Manager of the Ekiti State Aids Control Agency, Dr. Doherty Charles has expressed satisfaction with the Global Fund C-19RM/RSSH Grant initiative describing it as very apt.

The Global Fund C-19RM/RSSH Grant tends to mobilize well meaning individuals, corporate bodies and institutions to complement the efforts of government towards equipping Primary health facilities with necessary materials that can enhance their service delivery.

Receiving the Advocacy Group working on the project, Dr. Charles said that one of the approaches that the Primary Health Care needed to get facilities and kits is ‘partnership’ which the Global Fund C-19RM/RSSH Grant has focused on.

According to him, “since there is no money, the PHCs need to partner with other health entities and organizations to sustain operations.

He also said that SACA is training some TBAs in Ado Ekiti, adding that five local govt including Moba, Ikole, Ado, Omuo and Ido-osi were the beneficiaries of the training.

Dr. Charles:”There is only one private hospital in Ekiti offering full HIV/AIDS services and this is also a major challenge to the system.

In his response, Sir Olu Ogunrotimi who led the Advocacy Group thanked the GM for his support and urged him to continue to work with the group for better health care delivery in Ekiti.

He said findings have shown that most primary health facilities in Ekiti needs urgent attention especially on staffing, conducive enviroment and drugs.

According to him, the Global Fund C-19RM/RSSH Grant has been able to attract many support for some hospitals in the various councils of focus.
