...Distributes Drugs, Mosquito Nets, Others

In a bid to promote a healthy society in Ekiti State, the Rotary International Nigeria, a non-governmental organization has launched its free healthcare outreach in Adere Community, Ado-Ekiti, offering free healthcare diagnosis with drugs for treatment.
In an interview, the Director, Rotary Action Group for Reproductive Maternal and Child Health (RMCH), Prof. Emmanuel Lufadeju said the programme aims to promote healthy living and environment by educating community members, and providing healthcare services, such as diagnosis and administration of free drugs.
The Director, who was represented by the RMCH Communication Officer, Olubunmi Afolabi noted that the programme which is sponsored by Rotary International was executed in collaboration with the Ekiti State Government for local support and cooperation, adding that other colaboratory non governmental organizations includes: Rotary E-Club of Nigeria New Dawn, Dev Now, Santécare Initiative for, and Development.
The Coordinator Family Planning, Ekiti State Ministry of Health and Human Services, Mrs Ige Busayo said that the presence of the Ekiti State government is part of efforts to promote healthcare initiatives in the state, especially in this period of cholera outbreak.
“We educated them on maternity concerns, we also dwell on hygiene which is a major counter to the cholera outbreak.” she said.
On their part, the participants noted that the medical outreach program is a laudable initiative that demonstrates the power of partnership and collaboration in promoting healthcare and well-being in the society.
One of the participants, Mrs Balogun Funmi, said the free medical exercise exposed her to certain medication and health practices that are beneficial to her especially in this period of cholera outbreak.
Services rendered include: Body checks, administration of drug, laboratory investigations, administration of medical and family planning. Additionally, participants received Long Lasting Insecticidal mosquito nets (LLINs) and Mama Kits, which are designed to promote maternal and child health.
Other partners in the programme include: Rotary E-Club of Nigeria New Dawn, Dev Now, Santécare Initiative for, and Development.
