It was more like a carnival in the city of Ado Ekiti, as a renowned figure Deaconess Yetunde Adenike Oni marked her 70th birthday at the Christ Apostolic Church.
The event, which later continued at Amazing Grace Event Centre, attracted, family members, friends and people from all works of life who paid glowing tribute to the celebrant.
Delivering the sermon titled “Numbering Our Days,” Pastor Rotimi Oluwatusin, speaking from Psalm 90:10, reminded the congregation that life is brief and should be lived with gratitude to God. He urged believers to value every moment, describing human life as fleeting like a dream, and encouraged everyone to continually appreciate God’s faithfulness.
The cleric also advised the celebrant to remain steadfast in faith, pay close attention to her health, and continue to uphold humility and good character. He challenged those who have reached advanced age to begin handing over responsibilities while deliberately passing on their life lessons and family legacies to younger generations.
In her response, Deaconess Oni thanked God for preserving her life to witness the milestone. She expressed gratitude to her late father for his role in shaping her early years and appreciated her siblings for their support, stressing that her journey to 70 was not by personal strength but by divine grace.
Her husband, Prince Kayode Oni, described her as a loving, respectful, and supportive partner who greatly contributed to his achievements and family stability. He said surviving life’s challenges together has strengthened their bond and added that, despite both being above 70, he believes they still have many fulfilling years ahead.
Tributes poured in from family members, colleagues, and community leaders who described Deaconess Oni as disciplined, prayerful, resilient, and peace-loving.
Her children praised her unwavering support and spiritual guidance, while former colleagues and associates commended her humility, leadership, and dedication to service.
Pastor Abiodun Adeseyoju summed up the celebration by describing his sister as a unifying and godly figure whose life continues to inspire prayers for many more years of health and happiness.
Highpoint of the event was the entertainment of guests and presentation of gifts to the celebrant.
