Reno Omokri, a former Presidential aide and activist, led a peaceful protest at the Nigerian High Commission in London, along with other Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom, to express their anger and disappointment over the conduct of the just concluded February 25th presidential elections in Nigeria.
The protesters called for the cancellation of the election, which declared Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President-elect, due to irregularities in the voting process.
According to Omokri, overvoting was observed in almost 14,000 polling units, affecting 4.3 million votes, and manual accreditation was carried out in contravention of Sector 47 (2) and (3) of the Electoral Act.
He called for a more credible election and noted that the protest was not about any political party but a united course to demand free and fair elections from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for all Nigerians.
The protesters carried placards with various inscriptions, including “All we are saying, give us free votes,” “Election without BIVAS is digital rigging,” and “Results without transmission is election rigging.
