The National Youth Service Corps. NYSC, Ekiti State Coordinator, Mary Nenna Chikezie has charged Journalists in the state to publicise the benefits of the NYSC Trust Fund.
Chikezie, represented by the Public Relations Officer, NYSC Ekiti State, Tunde Odunsi, gave the charge during a Public Lecture with the theme: “2023 Elections; Beyond Religion; Ethnicity —The Place of The Media”, delivered at the 2022 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday.
The State Coordinator noted that the Trust Fund would go a long way in providing sustainable jobs for corps members, and also avail them the opportunity of sourcing for funds and finance for the skills acquired during the service year.
While addressing Corps members who are expected to participate as Adhoc Staff members during the 2023 general elections, Chikezie admonished them to be apolitical in all ramifications.
Similarly, the Guest Speaker, Federal Polytechnic Rector, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Engr. Dr. Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye, noted that the success of the 2023 General Elections is everybody’s business and encouraged the media to look beyond religion and ethic bigotry and work together for the overall interest of the citizens and for a better Nigeria.
“The masses should be educated to vote based on the competence of the candidates contesting at all levels rather than being sentimental on the basis of religion and ethnicity,” he said.
