She stated this on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti at an engagement meeting with Community Officers and Information Officers in all LCDAs and LGAs in the state.

According to her, the Community and Information Officers were given the mandate and responsibility of sharing government activities to residents of the state at the grassroots level.

Omotosho equally added that the Community and Information Officers are key stakeholders in implementing the shared prosperity programmes of the state government.

While noting that the engagement with the stakeholders will be done on a monthly basis, she added that the programme is geared towards sharing information with them and also to schedule their activities.

Her words: “One of the things that we did on assumption of office was identification and mapping of stakeholders that will work with us as far as grassroots communications is concerned.

“For this purpose, we identified community officers and information officers in all the local governments and LCDAs as part of our stakeholders.

“Since last year, we have been engaging them regularly to share government activities and programmes with them and even opportunities in the government so that they can take this information back to their various communities.

“This is the first meeting we will be holding and it is going to be every month. We want to set the agenda for 2024.

“The goal is to be very effective at the grassroots level as far as communications is concerned. It is to take government programmes down to the grassroots.

“In terms of community engagement activities, they are always part of it and we are activating it which they should be part of. This meeting is also sharing that information with them and also to schedule our community engagement activities.”

Highlights of the event is interactive sessions and awareness creation to the Officers on their duties at the grassroots level.

Also, the Desk Officer for People with Disabilities, PWDSs, NSCDC Ekiti State Command, Adejuwon Yemisi urged the Officers to treat PWDs in the state with utmost care and respect in the discharge of their duties.
