Despite stringent punishment attached to rape in Ekiti, the act still persist and sometimes among respected people in the society.
One of such cases is that of pastor Lawanson Akinola of Churches of Christ, Ido Ekiti who has been arrested and arraigned for turning his teenage house help to a sex toy.
According to reports, Pastor Akinola requested for the thirteen year old girl to assist him in taking care of his four year old son after the mother was said to have traveled out of the country.
However, the teenage house help confirmed that the pastor forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her the very first day she stepped into his house and the act continued for over a year until she confided in her school teacher who now reported the case to appropriate authorities.
Meanwhile, the council worker who was reported to have also raped his daughter has been remanded in prison custody by a Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti pending legal advice from DPP.
