A police officer attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Moniya, Ibadan,Oyo State today sustained an injury after he was mistakenly shot by his colleague.
The incident happened at Ijaye-Iseyin road when a team of police officers were conducting a stop and search
Roundoffnews gathered that the officer who fired the shot was said to have targeted the tyre of a suspected Yahoo boy who attempted to evade arrest but the bullet strayed and hit his colleague whom they were on duty together.
The injured police officer was later rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
As at the time of this report, police were on ground to maintain law and order in the area but efforts to speak with the police spokesman on the incident proved abortive.
