The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has appealed to the Organized Labour to reconsider its decision of embarking on a nationwide strike action, while advising to the Unions to engage legal proceedings so as not to cause a breakdown of law.
This was disclosed in a press statement, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, For Inspector-General of Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.
In the statement, the Force noted that the Federal Government has declared the planned strike illegal and premature, “In light of the Federal Government’s recent declaration that the planned strike is illegal and premature, the Nigeria Police Force views this action as a potential catalyst for increased tension and political instability.”
The NPF noted that shelving the strike action is essential to prevent hardships for members of the public and maintain order and stability in the country.
The Force assured the public that adequate deployments have been made to ensure the safety and security of citizens. The public is encouraged to remain calm and go about their lawful daily activities.
The NPF urged organized labour to prioritize dialogue and legal avenues to resolve existing grievances, and to act responsibly in accordance with the law.
