POLICE, REVENUE OFFICERS CLASH IN EKITI

Drama ensued in Ado Ekiti, the state capital on Wednesday as some traffic wardens and officials of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Services engaged themselves in a hot argument and verbal assault.

Both officers used words on themselves and were almost attacking each other before the intervention of passersby and good Nigerians.

The dirty drama involved senior police officers and management staff of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Services who all threw caution to the air and created scene as they tend to justify each other’s action.

Roundoffnews gathered that a traffic warden arrested a commercial vehicle from Fajuyi area for an alleged infringement but while taking the driver to the station, the revenue officers who were also conducting special verification noticed that the vehicle was carrying an old number plate and also decided to impound the same vehicle.

Despite explanation from the police officer, the revenue officers who were also accompanied by some security agents drove the vehicle in question into their yard.

This development infuriated the police officer hence he mobilized his colleagues who eventually stormed the office of the Internal Revenue and forcefully take out the vehicle.

On-lookers at the scene wondered why such a matter could generate disagreement between both agencies saying something must be fishy.

At the moment, both the police and management of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue are yet to comment on the matter.
