The Ekiti State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the alleged conspiracy, abduction, and assault of Ikere-West LCDA Chairman, Hon. Rufus Ige Olorunfemi, and one Funso Ajayi.
Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegeroye Michael, said preliminary findings showed that on June 3, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m., three Hilux vehicles carrying armed men in camouflage uniforms accosted Olorunfemi and Ajayi along Anoye Street, Ikere-Ekiti.
The victims were allegedly taken to the compound of PDP gubernatorial candidate Dr. Wole Oluyede, where they were seriously assaulted before being released.
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident and are undergoing investigation. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects still at large. Police said those arrested will be charged to court immediately after investigations are concluded.
CP Adegeroye called for calm and pledged that “no stone will be left unturned.” He warned citizens, especially political party loyalists, against taking the law into their hands or inciting violence as the June 20 governorship election approaches.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety, justice, fairness, professionalism, and respect for the rights of all citizens.
